Comment

Interpretation of a traditional tansutansu
Japanese chest, generally speaking piece of furniture for a storage purpose
by one of our craftsmen-suppliers.

The glossy black & red finish (mirror effect), is probably the best representation of Japanese lacquer.

The brass hardware has a grey glossy / patina finish, with a peony design, symbol of youth and transience. It stands out on the black & red wood, bringing at the same time refinment and originality.

Each drawer is adjusted individually to allow maximum air tightness (important in Japan where humidity is high, to protect precious kimonokimono
Traditional Japanese clothing
).

The secret storage and its kirikiri
Paulownia, little density wood, often used in Japan for its good mechanical properties
box are a nice feature, highlighting the Japanese concern for details.

Drawers can be locked (one key).
